Nationwide Palestine Conference: Success for the movement!
We are pleased to report that the “Nationwide Palestine Conference” was successfully held on November 9! The conference was organized by the “Action for Democratic Rights of the People” (ADRV) with its supporters and activists from Tyrol, Salzburg, Linz and the Palestine Committee Vienna. Over 60 activists and representatives of several organizations took part, making it an important contribution to the movement, which also provided a strong perspective for the struggle for solidarity with the Palestinian people!
60 participants united under the slogan “Freedom for Palestine”
The participants represented a large part of the movement: both new and long-standing activists of the Palestine solidarity movement from different parts of Austria took part. Activists from the provinces of Vienna, Upper Austria, Salzburg and Tyrol presented the work, activities and successes of the movement over the past year with pictures and reports. These were the contributions and experiences of those who fight and stand up for the Palestinian cause on a daily basis: against the genocide of Zionist Israel and for solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for their freedom.
Various organizations and initiatives took part in the conference with speeches and statements: the Palestinian cultural association Handala, the Arab Palestine Club (APC), the Anti-Imperialist Coordination (AIK), “Friends of the Philippino People in Struggle”, the anti-racism network CAGE Austria, Dar al-Janub and the freelance journalist Nicole Schöndorfer. Four international greetings, which were specially addressed to the conference by organizations from France, Sweden and Malta, as well as by the Coordinating Committee of the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL), once again underlined the international significance of the Palestine solidarity movement. The collected presentations and contributions of the conference will be published as a brochure in printed form by the ADRV.
A choir put together especially for the conference rounded off the event with song contributions in the spirit of the common struggle.
“No to genocide” and ‘Palestine's national liberation struggle is justified!’
The contributions of the representatives of the ADRV and its activists underlined the justified concerns and goals of the movement, against the criminalization, distortions and lies of the rulers and their monopoly press. With the aim of unification and unity, the ADRV also presented a proposal for common demands, the content of which was reflected in many contributions. This program is to be discussed in the further course and used as a basis for joint actions. A declaration of the Palestine Committees was also issued on the occasion of the conference.
The conference was thus able to fulfill what it had set out to do: to make a contribution to the movement in Austria, to promote unity and to provide perspectives. The conference was an important initiative to unite us even more firmly shoulder to shoulder under common demands: For the freedom of Palestine! For the strengthening of the anti-imperialist movement in the struggle against imperialism!
Our thanks goes to all the participants, the initiatives and organizations and last but not least to all those who guaranteed the successful holding of the conference!
